A heavily peated whisky from the BenRiach distillery. The barley used in this single malt has been peated to 35ppm and bottled at a higher than average alcohol strength (48%). Smoke and fruit are the first things that come to mind.
Nose: Sweet peat, vanilla dusted barley, pear drops, almonds, cut grass, all enveloped in a fog of peat smoke.
Palate: Vanilla, salt and peat, hot tar.
Finish: Poached pears, speyside peat reek.
