Description
Brand: Compass Box
Category: Whisky
Type: Blended Malt
Region: Scotland
Strength: 46% alc/vol
Made with single malts from Tomatin, Glenburgie, Glen Elgin, and the closed Imperial Distillery. Interestingly, a portion of the single malt from Tomatin has been finished in casks that were seasoned with Vino Naranja, which is a Spanish fortified wine that is infused with orange peel, usually made with a mix of Pedro Ximenex and Palomino grapes in which orange peels are macerated. – as well as whiskies matured in bourbon barrels and refill hogsheads.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Waxy peels and cooked apples, with a waft of flaky pastry underneath. Palate: Densely honeyed, though hints of shortbread, orange zest, milk chocolate, and black pepper pop up, warming nutmeg and apricot jam.
