Inverleven Distillery in Dumbarton was established in 1938, mothballed in 1991, and eventually demolished in 2006 to make way for a housing development. The two conventional stills and a Lomond still were rescued, and the Lomond still installed at Bruichladdich, named Ugly Betty, and is used to produce The Botanist Gin.
Fortunately some of the maturing spirit found its way to independent bottlers, and this particular offering was from a single cask selected by Maison du Whisky and bottled by Gordon & Macphail. It was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2004.
