Released in 2009, this is South Africa’s first ever single grain whisky, coming from The James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington. Bain’s Cape Mountain whisky is matured in first fill bourbon casks for an initial three years before spending a further two years in fresh first fill bourbon casks. Bain’s has won numerous world whisky awards, including best single grain whisky in the world by Whisky Magazine. We are very excited that this is a proudly South African single grain whisky on par with the rest of the single grain whiskies globally.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Custard creams and icing sugar, soon followed by nutmeg and vanilla sugar. Banana and coconut, resinous.
Palate: Soft and well-rounded with continued vanilla cream, banana and hints oak.
Finish: Coconut, candied banana.
