Glenglassaugh Revival 46%

The Glenglassaugh Distillery was mothballed from 1986 until 2008 and this the first whisky to be made from spirit distilled at the distillery since it reopened. It was matured in a mixture of first and refill bourbon casks before a final 6 months finishing in first fill oloroso sherry butts.

Nose: Initially spent matches, flinty the rich sherry dominating the bourbon, then sweet red berries, strawberry ice lolly and dark toffee.
Palate: A beautifully balanced dram, Terry’s chocolate orange dipped in oloroso sherry…what a pairing! The tannins adding depth and spice to the charred Spanish oak.  Purchase

Glenglassaugh Evolution 50%

This is the second edition of Evolution, the follow up to Revival, a limited release showcasing their spirit’s interaction with ex-Tennessee George Dickel whiskey barrels.
Nose: Sweet, buttery-vanilla, melon, young banana and golden delicious apples, the barley beautifully awash in a lemon coconut punch.
Palate: Oily and sumptuous, the vanilla and soft orchard fruits the perfect foil for the charred Tennessee oak with a gentle anise and sweet lemon finish.  Purchase
