Ardbeg Drum

Description

Ardbeg Drum is a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky released for Ardbeg Day 2019. It is the distillery’s first expression to be finished in ex-rum casks—sourced from the Americas, after initial maturation in ex-bourbon casks. It has a “funky” flavor profile blending smoky peat with tropical fruit notes like pineapple and banana.

Ardbeg Drum was designed to be a “flamboyant” take on the traditional, heavily peated Islay style. It was released in both a general release and a higher-proof Committee Release.

ABV: 46%
Nose: Common notes include ripe banana, pineapple, fragrant pine resin, woodsmoke, lavender, and dark chocolate.
Palate: Described as having a peppery texture with notes of oil, tar, creosote, and rich dark chocolate.
Finish: Long and smoky with lingering sweet spice.
