Launched for Fèis ÃŒle 2019,Scarabus means ‘rocky place’ in Old Norse, and while Ardnahoe waits fot its spirit to mature this whisky was sourced from an undisclosed Islay distillery.
Tasting notes:
Nose: The still spirit is the hero here, a touch of pot ale but Islay to a tee, clean sweet ‘n peat, young, fresh and vibrant, peat smoke mingled with salty sea spray. Despite the youth, it is beautifully balanced, sweetly smoked poached pears and spicy kelp tell this Islay story..
Palate: The maritime thread continues onto the palate, thin but a full coastal splash of briny spice, honey, cracked black pepper, a chilli flake or two, dried tobacco, cigar smoke, smoldering embers trailing off on the dry, salty finish.
