Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask is a mind blowing Oloroso Sherry matured single cask whisky from Taiwan, bottled with no artificial colouring or chillfiltration. It won a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and was named Best Rest of the World Single Malt Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards in 2012! The distillery boasts with quite a few awards under their belt namely worlds best single malt award in 2015. Initially the heat and climate in Taiwan caused a bit of a panic due to high evaporation and maturation rates, fortunately as it turns out the warmth is the the major factor in their globally award winning range of whiskies. Heat influences the maturation rate drastically, the end result is a whisky that is packed with flavoursome goodness, distinct aromas. What more could one ask for?

Tasting notes:
Nose: Poached plums and stewed prunes, pressed raisins and sultanas, inky molasses, a hint of tobacco and liquorice, a cornucopia of dark and red fruits dusted with sweet spice mesmerise the nose.
Palate: Rich, robust with spicy red berries, the palate mimics the nose creating a perfect balance. There is sweet sherry on the tip of the tongue, then a hot stew of plums and prunes drying to a heavy European wooded finish, the raisins lingering on for eternity. Magnificent!
